Decision 645/2000/QD-BYT

Institute of Materia Medica (IMM) is a non-business unit under the Ministry of Health, which was established by Decision No. 324/BYT-QD of April 13, 1961 of the Health Minister and restructured by Decision No. 230/1998/QD-TTg of November 30, 1998 of the Prime Minister, having legal person status, its own seal and accounts, and is headquartered in Hanoi.

The IMM is tasked to conduct comprehensive research into pharmaceuticals, drug preparations from pharmaceuticals, modernization of forms of traditional drug preparations and training professional cadres.

The IMM is subject to comprehensive management and leadership of the Health Minister, and the professional direction of the State functional agencies and takes self-responsibility for its activities. The Institute is entitled to cooperate with agencies, units and individuals inside and outside the health service from central to local levels in order to perform the assigned functions and tasks. The Institute is also entitled to cooperate with countries, international organizations and foreign individuals in the areas assigned by the Health Minister and has to abide by the provisions of law.- (Summary)
